“Farmers can achieve more benefits if they employ several agricultural diversification practices in tandem, rather than just one at a time.” ― Laura Vang Rasmussen, Researcher at University of Copenhagen
Biostimulants are one of many important tools for soil conservation. While biostimulants were first established in regenerative ag communities, their essential actions benefit all farming systems, bridging the gap between systems managed chemically and those managed biologically.
EnSoil Algae™ is a biostimulant that kickstarts the system, primarily by increasing and diversifying the microbial communities. Soil microbes have a variety of roles in the ecosystem including cycling nutrients, building soil structure, helping plants communicate with one another, and many more. By increasing microbial biodiversity in the system, plant resilience increases.
Diversity of plant microbes in the soil is essential to proper plant development, starting as early as the seed. For example, when the plant makes the seeds, it puts the microbes in and around the seed so that when the seed germinates, it already has the microbes it needs to survive.
Diversification is equally as important through every stage of the plant’s life past harvest and into the off season, where the microbes prep the soil ecosystem for the following growing season.
We would love to share EnSoil Algae™ and other diversification methods with you to help you kickstart your journey to diversified farming. Connect with Camille Newsom at camille@enlightenedsoil.com to learn more.
